BNP / Anti-Fascism

Our so-called political leaders, along with the media, continually deflect our anger from the main enemy onto other working class people - immigrants and unemployed. They use people's genuine concerns to create false divisions and promote their own agendas. Is it any surprise that the BNP leadership, like Cameron and Brown, come from the same privileged backgrounds?

Our class heritage has always been one of defiance and dissent - a refusal to bow down to authority and oppression, be it the fascists during WW2, Thatcher during the Miner's Strike or Murdoch at Wapping - this is our real history, solidarity and self-organisation, and despite the language they use the BNP have always had a vicious anti-working class tradition.

Which is why we should be out in force to stop them taking the platform at City Hall.

In the early hours of this morning the most recently used meeting venue of the fascist British National Party (BNP) was targetted by local anti-fascists.

The venue; The Middleton Arms pubic house recently played host to a private meeting of the Leeds BNP, whose guest speaker was Richard Barnbrook, London mayoral candidate, racist and fraudster.

The BNP are warned that they will continue to meet resistance and disruption to their activities as long as they are present in Leeds as will those that offer them resources and assistance.

St. Petersburg Times Report On Murder Of Antifascist Alexei Krylov (01 April 2008)

A local anti-fascist movement marched against neo-Nazi violence this week, marking the ninth day since the death of an anti-fascist in Moscow.

Alexei Krylov, who lived in Noginsk, a town near Moscow, was attacked and stabbed by 15 neo-Nazis when he was walking with three other young men and a young woman, to a punk concert at Art Garbage club. Krylov, who was 21, died of multiple knife wounds on the spot.

One of the leaflets that anti-fascists gave away to passers-by as they were marching on Nevsky Prospekt on Tuesday was headlined “They Killed Lyosha” and asked for a financial help for Krylov’s family.

“Alexei’s family really needs help, he has been survived by his mother and two younger sisters,” the leaflet said. “The family is underprivileged.”

A WebMoney account for funds to support Krylov’s family has been listed as R321197368781, while Russian equivalent Yandex.Dengi’s account as 4100164493592.

Krylov’s murder was committed in the center of Moscow as he was leaving Kitai-Gorod Metro on March 16. It appears identical to the murder of Timur Kacharava, a local musician and anti-Nazi activist who was stabbed to death in the center of St. Petersburg outside the entrance to Bukvoyed bookstore on Ligovsky Prospekt, opposite Metro Ploshchad Vosstaniya. Kacharava, who was 20, played guitar with his political hardcore punk band Sandinista! and also performed with another punk band, Distress.

Meanwhile, 26 marchers detained soon after the march had taken place (of over 150 who took part) began to receive visits by the police on Thursday. The offenses they are charged with are punishable by up to 15 days in custody, but some activists are wary that the charges might be changed under the law on “extremism” introduced under President Vladimir Putin. Activists claim that Russian policemen are themselves frequently “nationalist.”

“People are showing indifference toward racist attacks because they think that the police should deal with them,” said a local member of anti-fascist movement in an interview with “Basta,” a recent special issue of newspaper “Chto Delat?” (What to Be Done?).

“But the policemen are mostly xenophobic themselves. I was beaten in police precincts many times specifically for being an anti-fascist. Several times when a policeman rolled up his sleeves, there was a swastika there. “An ex-Nazi (or an actual Nazi) and he works in the police!"

BNP Venues Attacked (17 March 2008)

In the early hours of this morning (14-03-2008) several Leeds venues recently used for meetings of the fascist British National Party were attacked. The BNP have used these venues on a number of occasions, and the venues were in full knowledge of whom they were hosting.

The venues were:

Ireland Wood Social Club, Leeds
The Dog & Gun public house, Killingbeck, Leeds
Woodkirk Valley Country Club, Tingley, Leeds

The attacks on the venues took the form of damage to property, comprising glued locks and the smashing of several windows with red paint being thrown inside.

The purpose of this action is to send a clear message that we will do all we can to prevent the fascist BNP spreading their racist poison within West Yorkshire, and will actively confront those who provide them with resources and/or attempt to turn a quick profit from assisting them. Nick Griffin and his shabby cohorts may wear suits and ties instead of blackshirts, but we are not fooled as to the true nature of the fascist BNP.

Yorkshire Anti-fascists

The sad news has reached us that Leon Greenman has died at the grand old age of 97.

Some of us at Antifa remember meeting Leon when we provided security for some of his extremely moving talks in the nineties. Leon dedicated his life to telling others of his experiences in the Nazi death camps after losing his wife Esther and son Barney aged three to the camps.

The only Englishman sent to Auschwitz, Leon was born in Whitechapel East London in 1910 before moving to the Netherlands. It was here that the family were sent to Auschwitz in 1943. He was liberated by the Americans from Buchenwald camp in 1945. His dedication and inspiration to others will not be forgotten.
This quote from Leon says it all,

"Young and old alike must learn about the Holocaust as warning against the dangers of racism. There is no difference in colour or religion. If I had survived to betray the dead it would have been better not to survive.
We must not forget. Please do not forget."

An American 'Animal Rights' prisoner, Christopher 'Dirt' McIntosh has been 'outed' as a fascist by theEarth Liberation Prisoners Support Network. The statement they have issued is reproduced below.

Dear Friends

Just under two weeks ago ELP announced we were suspending from our prisoner lists the American prisoner Christopher 'Dirt' McIntosh, who is currently imprisoned for a failed arson against a McDonalds restaurant.
Following our investigation ELP has decided to permanently remove McIntosh from our lists and encourage others to do likewise. Our reasons for this decision are detailed below:

WARNING - The below statement contains direct quotations of some of the racist and sexist words that Christopher 'Dirt' McIntosh has written to some of his supporters. If you are offended by racist or sexist
language please do not read the below statement. We do not deliberately wish to offend anyone, but we are using McIntosh's own words to demonstrate his new found politics.

On the 8th of February 2008 a well known and highly respected former ALF prisoner contacted ELP to raise his concerns about the American prisoner Christopher 'Dirt' McIntosh.

The former ALF prisoner supplied ELP with letters written by Christopher 'Dirt' McIntosh to some of his supporters. In his letters McIntosh uses highly offensive racist language and referred to black people as
"fucking mud people". In his letters McIntosh talks about white supremacy and how he would be prepared to die for white supremacy. We understand he has also talked to other supporters about his belief in white supremacy.

In addition to this McIntosh also talks about Social Darwinianism (a racist/sexist corruption of Darwin's theory of evolution) and the superiority of white people. McIntosh states "Darwinistically speaking, niggers are natural slaves, so fucking one is like fucking a cow." (ELP again understands that McIntosh has also spoken to other supporters about his belief in Social Darwinianism).

McIntosh asked one female supporter if she'd ever had sex with a black man before referring to white women who have sex with black men as "whores". McIntosh described black men who have sex with white women as
"dogs".

Continuing on his sexist line, McIntosh states he has returned to eating meat and asked a female supporter if she missed eating meat. He then stated when he was a vegetarian "I suffered because I loved the taste
[of meat] - But maybe my being male with different hormones and drives separates our experiences there, once again Darwinistically speaking".

Because of his racist and sexist comments ELP decided to suspend Christopher 'Dirt' McIntosh from our prisoner lists with immediate effect and publically request any other offensive material McIntosh had written.
Our subsequent investigations have shown that:

1) McIntosh has adopted White Supremacist views whilst in prison. A number of people have contacted ELP saying that McIntosh has started to associate with a racist gang and has even gone as far as to get a racist
'white power' tattoo. In a letter to one of his supporters McIntosh enclosed a photo of himself and referred to his tattoo which was not visible in the photo. He told another supporter how he would show off his
tattoo upon his release from prison.

2) McIntosh, through his Social Darwinian beliefs, thinks that 'might makes right', or as he puts it in one of his letters "supremacy to the strongest".

3) McIntosh has told at least one female supporter that it is okay for a man to rape a woman (under his 'might makes right' theme).

4) ELP has had it confirmed that since going into prison McIntosh has abandoned his vegetarian diet and has reverted to eating meat.

So on the grounds that McIntosh is a racist, sexist, meat eating, white supremicist, who believes it is okay for the strong to bully the weak and it is okay for a man to rape a woman, ELP is permanently ending our
support for Christopher 'Dirt' McIntosh. We denounce McIntosh as a racist, sexist, fascist. We encourage all other prisoner support campaigns to remove him from their lists and we warn all our supporters against
supporting this man.

On February 14th an antifascist activist was heavily wounded in Moscow by nazi scum. Now he is in hospital in a critical state and needs money for serious treatment.

This St Valentine's day sexual minorities of Moscow were planning to have a little procession on one of the central squares of the city. But before the event it was heard that nazi boneheads were planning to ambush the parade. Representatives of sexual minorities rights comunity called for help from Moscow antifascists.

On the day of the event a big mob of nazis indeed showed up at the place of the procession. But instead of gays and lesbians a crowd of about 50 antifascist skinheads and punks appeared at the square and shooed the nazis away. After this the parade commenced, covered by antifascist activists.

But the Nazis managed to regroup and attacked one of the antifascist skinhead, who was cut off from the main force.. The guy was beat up and stabbed heavily and ended up in the intensive care unit in hospital.

His life is still in extreme danger now. Doctors say that even at the best he could stay in hospital for several months.

Antifascists gathered outside the Greek Tourist Office this week in protest against fascists and police in Greece conspiring to attack anti-fascists, which culminated in the stabbing of two.

About one thousand people gathered on 19 January, 2008 in Pilsen, Czech Republic, to commemorate the victims of nazi terror: 66 years ago, Jews from Pilsen were deported to concentration camps, but nobody knew that another victim of current neo-nazi violence is at the very same time fighting for his life in a hospital.

On 18 January in Pribram, a town 50 km south-west of Prague, 20-year-old neo-nazi Jiri Fous stabbed 18-year-old Jan Kucera in the groin and back about an hour to midnight. Before this attack, young local neo-nazis were provoking with nazi salutes and offending a group of young punks and antifascist skinheads, to which Jan belonged. Jan’s friends were trying to stop the bleeding from his femoral artery and called for an ambulance. Neither the paramedics nor Jan’s friends realized that Jan had also been stabbed in the back before it was too late. Jan lost massive amounts of blood and fell unconscious. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but even though he was in the hands of professional doctors, he died on Sunday morning.

Jan Kucera was an antifascist skinhead from Pribram, and he was never afraid to express his opinions. In his Internet profile, he wrote: "I’m a normal boy and I consider myself a SHARP skinhead. I don’t care who my friends are - I don’t judge people because of their musical taste, their clothes or the colour of their skin. I judge people by what they do. Anybody can write to me. I hate nazis, the bourgeoisie, communists and similar scum! Antifascista Oi!"

He stood by his opinions until the very end. He will stay forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and all people with an antifascist attitude. Honour to his memory.

Andrea was in a neighbourhood in southeast Berlin where a Neo-Nazi demonstration was taking place. For five months she managed successfully to avoid her imprisonment, which should have happened already on the 2nd of August. She will have now to spend her next 14 months behind the bars and therefore she absolutely needs all our support from outside the walls. After one and half week spent in the prison of Lichtenberg, Andrea has been transferred by surprise on the 11th to the prison of Pankow. Through this she lost a visit she had already applied for, and now she had to apply again for all the usual things like mail, sport, visits..

A bit of history

On the 12.07 the Munich local court sentenced her to 4 months without probation. She had a pepperspray on her. Even though on that day there was no lefty demonstration taking place,and therefore it was legal to carry a pepperspray, the court said that on that day a "state of exception" had been declared. Of course they forgot to inform the rest of the population about this. Following this sentence, she faced also the loss of a precedent probation of three months, back then being caught with some eggs full of pepper during an anti-fascist action on 1st of May 2005, in Berlin. During a process on 31st of july, under which several accusations against her got regrouped, she has been sentenced to five months more.

She has been accused of participating within an action of the "Uberflussigen" (an autonomous group active mainly on the theme of precarity) against the racist immigration office in Berlin-Lichtenberg; In October 2006, for a blockade attempt against a Neo-Nazi march in August 2006; For masking up during the protests against a Neo-Nazi demonstration towards the prison of Tegel in solidarity with Michael Regner "Lunikoff" (singer of a famous Neo-Nazi band, serving a couple of years in that prison), in October 2006. On top of this come two months without probation following a squatting acton in the Liebigstrasse, Berlin-Friedrichshain.

These sentences are clearly political ones, meaning that an engaged and unwilling to bow activist has been sent down for quite sometime.
